Julia Shaw, LICSW
I came to the counseling field through a deep curiosity about people’s inner worlds and a lifelong love of stories. My experiences with literature and travel have shaped my perspective and led me to become fluent in Spanish, allowing me to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I also have a strong connection to nature and spend my time homesteading, where I enjoy producing my own food and being outdoors. I value growth, resilience, and the courage it takes to face fears and pursue meaningful change—both in my own life and in the work, I do with clients.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with a background in family therapy, where I worked closely with children, adolescents, and their caregivers. Since 2017, I have focused on individual therapy, creating a supportive and compassionate space where clients can explore themselves more deeply and work toward their goals. My work is informed by a holistic, strengths-based perspective that considers the impact of family, community, and broader life circumstances on mental health.
I work with adolescents (ages 15+) and adults, and have experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, family dynamics, and challenges related to self-esteem and identity. I strive to highlight each client’s strengths while helping them feel understood, empowered, and better equipped to face life’s challenges.
